Maybe when I come out of the garden I’ll replace SSFCU with Unify. I will keep them in mind, they look like a good local CU.
I wasn’t sure if living in Colorado was enough (I live in Littleton/Arapahoe county). I was looking into them before I found out about my NFCU eligibility but they weren’t clear about who’s eligible on the site and I didn’t feel like making a phone call lol. You are eligible by living here and they have a branch in Aurora. Their rate isn't quite as good as Space Age, but they are a much better CU overall. Honestly you'd be better off joining Unify Financial Credit Union. As far as I can best recall, neither of us got the lowest-possible rate of 4.99% F (possibly indicating that BEFCU may be very financially-conservative, since I believe my FICO8 scores were in the low-800s at the time of my app with them), but we still got pretty decent single-digit rates at fixed APRs, which was admittedly very nice. The only low-APR CU card (with rewards) that I am currently aware of that has no geo restrictions is the PACU card, which is a rewards MC currently as low as 8.45% F and 1.5% rewards:Īs per helpful info originally provided by the myfico poster themanwhocan, BEFCU has a rewards card with an as low as 4.99% F go-to APR that apparently at one time allowed anyone to obtain membership and the card by joining a one-time, low-cost affiliate - California Consumers Association, again IIRC? - but BEFCU appears to no longer offer that no-geo-limits loophole for apping for the card, which in theory and unless something has recently changed, would seem to indicate that at present, they only accept apps from people living in California Blessedly, I was able to get my foot in the door with them for the card before they removed the ability to apply outside of the Cali geo limits, and I know of at one least one other myficoer who was able to obtain the card. Thanks to the OP for mentioning the Space Age FCU credit card Yes IIRC I had also called the CU a while back to inquire about eligibility, but ran into pretty much the same geographical limitation issues. If anyone is eligible (I know we have a few from Colorado here), that prime card is epic and the 8.5% is competitive with a number of the low interest offerings from NFCU and PenFed. All three of those cards have rewards programs although they don’t look great lol. I actually found a number of CUs here with very low interest cards, just lacking in the rewards department.
